Co-pyrolysis of waste printed circuit boards with iron compounds for Br-fixing and material recovery

Waste printed circuit boards (WPCBs) were co-pyrolyzed with iron oxides and salts. Solid, liquid, gaseous products collected characterized. Co-pyrolysis FeCl2, FeCl3, or FeSO4 was able to increase the yield of liquid product which rich in phenol its homologues. Also, addition co-pyrolysis reagents reduced release brominated organics as Br either fixed FeBr3 solids released HBr. In particular, FeCl2 showed best ability reduce Br-containing compared FeCl3 FeSO4. Solid residuals oxides, glass fibers, charred surface areas 20.6–26.5 m2/g. CO2 together a small amount CH4 H2 detected products. Overall, could improve quantity quality oil be reused chemical energy sources. Pyrolysis waste board promising method for recycling.
